It’s not the first time that the dislike scam has made the rounds through Facebook, but this could be the most successful attempt for hackers using it. Despite warnings from numerous web sites, the dislike button scam continues to plague Facebook.

Facebook uses “like” and “share” buttons to give members the opportunity to post things quickly to their walls and communicate with friends. It’s a long-held belief among many Facebook members, though, that a “dislike” button is greatly needed. After all, sometimes you want to share the worst of the internet, but you don’t want your friends to think that you actually approve. The dislike button would give people the opportunity to tell all of their friends “I can’t believe how terrible this is.” It would also streamline Facebook arguing.

Facebook, however, has not released a dislike button, leaving an open niche for hackers.

The dislike button scam is a clickjack that spreads by posting itself to the Facebook walls of its victims. This encourages your friends to see the opportunity for a dislike button, many of whom will fall for the hoax by  following the link to a website that makes them take numerous surveys before installing the non-existent app.

The bottom line is that Facebook hasn’t required users to install apps to use the share or like  buttons, so there’s little chance that they would for new features. They also wouldn’t require members to take surveys hosted on third-party sites.
