Something from nothing is nothing

“OMG! Did you hear that you can make a ton of money without doing anything at all… just because you have a computer? You didn’t hear about this remarkable opportunity? Why isn’t everyone taking advantage of this!”

Chill out, already… Get rich quick schemes aren’t anything new. Recently, however, I’ve seen an abundance of them on Facebook. They promise thousands of dollars in a short amount of time, and they don’t even require you to do real work.

You can avoid these scams by remembering one basic fact of life: there’s no such thing as easy money. Well, at least not legally.

Any job that pays you thousands of dollars a week either requires an astronomical amount of education or the willingness to do something illegal. These Facebook hoaxes don’t require either of those, so you can forget it.

These scams aren’t designed to make YOU rich. They’re designed to make spammers rich. During rough economic times, people are even more likely to fall for the hoaxes. Desperation leads us to do crazy things. That probably explains the recent surge on Facebook.

Unfortunately, there’s no easy fix for financial woes. If you want to make more money, then you’re going to have to work hard. A little luck won’t hurt either. Considering the current unemployment rate, let’s make that a lot of luck. One fact remains. Being gullible isn’t going to put more money in your bank account and it isn’t going to help you make that next mortgage payment.

Don’t waste your time on these scams. More often than not, they want to take money from you, not help you make it. In the end, you’ll only be worse off.
